My situation continues to drag on waiting for the next court date. While I’m waiting, I am having to fill out many, many documents regarding income, expenses, accounts, testimonies, etc. It was long, frustrating work.
I was thrilled to be asked to do farm chores for a good friend while they had to travel for a few days to another state as a family member had passed. I miss being on my farm and I looked forward to taking care of her animals, including an adorable calf that she wanted bottle fed once a day. I really enjoyed the work. I did tell my lawyers that I had to pass my farm twice a day during this time to get to her place. I’m glad I did because I passed Mr. Ellis the first evening and that certainly made me nervous. I was grateful that nothing came of it. The second evening, as I was passing the property, I saw my beloved Beethoven down by the road on the south end of our land. I hurriedly pulled over and called him to me. This huge dog joyously greeted me and I bawled openly as I petted and loved on him. I knew I had been missing my dogs, but seeing Beethoven for the first time in several months was both wonderful and heart-breaking. When I finally had to break away, my dog, who hates riding in the car, tried to get in with me… repeatedly. When I was able to get the door closed to drive away, he chased me as far as he could. This truly broke my heart. As happy as I was to see him, I almost succumbed to a depression so deep I struggled to keep from crawling into and hiding in my bed for several days. The rest of the week, the weather was hot, so Beethoven did not wander out for me to see him and I was glad. I get the feeling it was too much for him too.
I have been busy trying to get caught up on my video production, but I am sadly still very far behind. I did get Brown Gravy: Better from Scratch posted on Grandma’s Homestead channel. It can be seen here.
Dianna is mostly moved into her apartment, but she was still downsizing. I get the feeling she will be downsizing for a very long time. Regardless, she had a couple of dates set to have yard sales at another friend’s house right on Route 66. I love hauling things so I was glad to be able to help get stuff over there.
For my birthday, several of us ladies from the church had a wonderful meal at Gibby G’s. I love these ladies and I enjoy doing things with them.
I also got Italian Chicken Zucchini Skillet posted to Grandma’s Homestead channel. This dish was well liked by my church friends. It can be seen here.
I spent several weeks walking with a group of ladies on well groomed paths around a portion of Claremore lake. I had been to the lake several times over the years, but never very early in the morning. I was surprised and pleased at how beautiful that lake is with the sun rising behind it. I also enjoy the company of the ladies as we walk. One of the ladies in the group told me about a position they were trying to fill as the clerk for the town of Foyil. I knew immediately that I was interested in this job and turned in my resume and cover letter. I look forward to seeing how that turns out.
In the mean time, I have been working getting some videos posted. I have plenty of footage to edit, it just takes time to get them done. I did get the next part of Dianna’s and my trip to Western Oklahoma posted. Exploring Alabaster Caverns can be seen here.
My littlest granddaughter, Ivy, who is three years old, has been accompanying me to church on Sunday mornings. She “helps” me make copies of the prayer requests for the Sunday School class. The pastor always invites her into his office. She now know where all the candy and toys are. He is always gracious in sharing whatever she finds. I generally take pictures and send them to her parents. After we get the prayer requests handed out, someone is usually in the nursery by then and I take her there to play happily until church is over two hours later. She has a wonderful time and looks forward to Sundays with “Grandma Thecia.” (Yes, that’s what she calls me.)
One morning as I was going through my social media posts, I saw where someone was going to make Peasant Bread as one their “Three Things” to do for the day. I researched the recipe and was surprised at how easy, yet tasty it was and my church friends really enjoyed it. This video can be seen here.
With all the preparation of getting documents together for court, stressing more as the day approached, Tom didn’t even show up. This basically meant setting another court date. At this point, I am beginning to get irritated. I am not the one who filed for divorce, yet he has not done any of the documentation work to support his case and now he doesn’t even show up to court. He has had several months to completely destroy my farm and all the work I’ve done there…and that is exactly what he has done…and I have to just sit back and wait for the next court date. I keep trying to remind myself that God is in control of this whole situation, but my heart is truly broken over the mess he’s made of everything. I did record and post a podcast, Episode 83: Playing the Waiting Game. It is both on This Grandma’s Life YouTube channel or on any of your favorite pod catchers.
I also got another one Kinzie’s softball games posted. Liberty Away can be seen here.
I did finally get called in for an interview for the job of Town Clerk and I got the job! I’m learning a lot, but I think I’m getting the hang of a few things. There is certainly plenty more to learn though. It’s part time, but I am actually very okay with that. It’s nice to be earning some money.
The job does take time out of my day and I have had to work even harder to get videos and podcasts published. I did get the last day of our trip to Western Oklahoma edited and posted. Adventures at Salt Plains State Park can be seen here. That day was hot and very windy, but we had a lot of fun there too.
As you can tell, I am staying very busy, but I am generally happy in my new life as I wait for closure on my old one. There is lots more to talk about but I’ll end this blog post for now. I appreciate each and every one of you. See you next time!
